History

Protect the Package (PTP) was started in 2008 to help increase the stories of triumph over tragedy in the world’s fight against cancer. While the name and logo may catch your attention in a humorous way, the meaning behind the message could not be more serious.

Providing hope and humor to men fighting cancer was the mission of PTP for 11 years. We teed off at Silver Spring Country Club for the first two year. Playing in near freezing temperatures in October, but having a blast! We then moved to Scenic View Golf course. Continually selling out all 18 holes while enjoying the sun and warm of August. Proceeds raised went to the Cancer Care Center of Community Memorial Hospital and then the Medical College of Wisconsin.

After year 11, there was some talk of PTP coming to an end. Thankfully, an invitation to a gala helped us realize it wasn’t an end we were seeking, but a new and exciting beginning! The gala was for the This Time Tomorrow Foundation (TTT). An organization that uses music and the arts to inspire hope. TTT provides direct financial support to individuals and families fighting all forms of cancer. It is their goal to help those affected today reach the tomorrows they deserve. Partnering with the This Time Tomorrow Foundation helped grow our outing and make a greater impact. After one more year selling out Scenic View, we needed to move to a bigger course. We found that at Ironwood Golf Course and quickly realized they run outings unlike any other in Wisconsin. What an amazing setting and staff!

As we head into year 16 of the Protect the Package Golf Outing, we are extremely proud of what it has become. More importantly, we want to keep striving to do more to reach our heroes. With continued love and support from our golfers and sponsor, we can come together and do great things!

Dream Big…Pray bigger!
